Sri Lanka v India an old Asian rivalry was playing against each other in the first test of 3 test series. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first.

In the first innings Paranavitana and Sangakkara played really amazing innings and scored 111 and 103 respectively. Also Herath played really nice at the tail and scored 80 runs. No Indian bowlers were so impressive and as a result Sri Lanka declared after mammoth score of 520 runs in 1st innings. Mithun from India took 4 wickets while Ishant Sharma finished with 3.

India did not well in the first innings and follow on by the amazing Sri Lankan bowling attack. Sehwag (109) and Yuvaraj (52) were the only high scorer from Indian squad. Murali took amazing 5 wickets and India were all out for 276.

After following on, In second innings Indian batsmen did bit well and scored 338 runs by taking lead of 95 runs only. Sachin, Dravid and Laxman played reasonably well and put India in the position.

The score was low and Sri Lankan openers were aiming the win. They finished in a style and without losing any wicket, Sri Lanka won the match by 10 wickets.

Murali, the great Sri Lankan bowler finished 800 wickets in test cricket in his last test of the career. He has retired from test cricket now and we will miss the legend from the game.
