Cricket World Cup 2011 : Pakistan’s 14 matches are given to co-hosts

Previously alloted to Pakistan, world cup organizing committee descided to give 14 matches to co-hosts India, Sri-Lanka and Bangladesh.

icc_cricket_world_cup_2011_logoICC decided to take out all the allocated matches from Pakistan because of the attack on Sri Lankan team in Pakistan by terrorists which killed 6 policemen and 1 driver. So the decision was pending where to play these 14 matches.

Before this decision there were plans to move these 14 matches to Dubai. But finally ICC decided to keep all the matches in south asian cricket playing countires and alloted to India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

8 matches goes to India, 4 to Sri Lanka and 2 to Bangladesh. So in total there are 49 matches to be played in ICC world cup 2011 from which 29 will be played in India, 12 in Sri Lanka and 8 in Bangladesh.
